Absolutely the disc of the decade
One must remember that the "Donner Cut" is not a true " movie " as envisioned by Richard Donner from start to finish. It is a fabulous " what if ". A true Donner cut of the film was technically impossible, but this is still amazing. THANK YOU WARNER BROS. & RICHARD DONNER & MICHAEL THAU! Awesome. Awesome. Awesome.

THE LESTER & DONNER CUT DREAM MOVIE
IF YOU SAW THE 1980 SUPERMAN II AND WATCH 2006 SUPERMAN II DONNER CUT , PROBABLY YOU CAN BUILT THE ULTIMATE SUPERMAN II MOVIE.THE LESTER VERSION HAVE THE REAL EMOTION OF A COMIC BOOK IN MOST OF THE MOVIE , THE BOMB SEQUENCE IN THE ELEVATOR OF EIFEL TOWER IN PARIS WAS GREAT, THE RETURN OF SUPERMAN TO CONFRONT GENERAL ZOD & COMPANY AND THE HUMOR TOUCH IN SOME PARTS OF THE MOVIE , MAKE THIS VERSION A NICE TO WHATCH. IN OTHER HAND , DONNER VERSION IS MORE FORMAL IN CERTAIN WAYS. THE CONVERSATION OF JOR-EL AND SUPERMAN WAS STRONG AND DRAMATIC, ITS WAS A DISCUSION BETWEEN FATHER AND SON.THE CONNECTION BETWEEN SUPERMAN THE MOVIE AND SUPERMAN II WAS PERFECT. AND DONNER CONNECT PERFECTLY SUPERMAN II WITH SUPERMAN RETURNS WITH THE INTIMATE ENCOUNTER BETWEEN LOIS & SUPERMAN , NOT BETWEEN LOIS & CLARK AS APPEARS ON LESTER VERSION. THATS WHY HIS FUTURE SON BECAME WITH SUPERPOWERS. IN SUMMARY , A RIGTH SELECTION OF SEQUENCES OF BOTH MOVIES CAN MAKE THE ULTIMATE SUPERMAN II.

In My Opinion.........
In my opinion, the Salkinds made the right decision in firing Donner and not using his film footage. The Lesnar footage worked out fine for Superman II. The only benefiting thing from this re-cut was, seeing how Superman got his powers back after he had decided on losing them. Other than that, the movie is pretty much 70% Lesnar & 30% Donner. It was good to see more of Marlon Brando as Jor-El, though!!! :

Donner cut
The Richard LESTER CUT was better.The donner cut was slow in some part of the movie.Some action seen are cut out complete.

Total Disaster by Donner
SPOILERS!!! The worst thing about this version is that they put too much religon into it. Especially when Jor-El transfers into his son. Its like watching a religous movie. They should of never put it back in. I liked being able to use my imagination. Not to mention the disaster of the cut action footage by Richard Lester. I love the Effel Tower Scene. It made the film so slow and boring. Yet, I liked the extended version of the white house and the statue of Liberty explosion. Though in the end seeing Donner use the same footage from the first film not to mention using the same idea again of reversing time was too repeatative and dumb. It makes the film preaty much worthless because he went back so far that the whole movie never happened. Whats the point of watching that. Donner should have just left the Lester kiss in it. It just makes more sence. Plus when reversing time that means that lois never got in bed with Clark. That also makes Superman Returns story all messed up he never would of had a son. Then the dinner in the end made no sence because the fight between the tough guy and Clark never happened, dumb. Why re-use ideas you already have done.stupid. In the end its good film to see. I like the intro and seeing Marlon Brando. But thats it. I will never see it again because we all know why Donner was cut. He wastes money on bordom.
